And now for something totally different

Saturday, August 25, 2007 2:38 - GNOME is great and I thank you all for your support and ideas (more on that later) but the thing is I am not a web hacker, I am much more at home writing GTK+ applications.

So I took a break from web stuff and tried two new things, the new Totem plugin mechanism and the Desktop-integrated-IM Empathy. The use case is easy: you work at home and it is a slow day and there is a new Lucky Star episode out and you really want to watch it but coworkers may want to contact you by IM and you should answer promptly.

How to integrate both, how hard would it be to have notification of new messages while watching an anime fullscreen ?

It is actually quite easy (even if there are still some rough edges); I am sure 2.20 will rock but I am also sure 2.22 will rock even more if you can integrate Empathy within our applications. (and I am not talking about my totem plugin hack).

Now you just need to upload it to a bug, and post some screenshots, and it will be integrated in trunk :)
